Viglink Review: The Easiest Way Yet to Sell Products on the Web
68
Selling products on the web through affiliate programs can be complicated and frightening.
This frightens many bloggers who are put off by the complications of applying to different affiliate networks and merchants and the having to figure out how to make encoded links.
There is an easier way. Viglink is a new(ish) service that does all of the difficult stuff for you.
You just write your blog and produce quality content and they produce the affiliate links for you. When sales get made they handle the admin, collect the money and give you a share.
Read this Viglink Review to find out more about this service and what its advantages and disadvantages are.
You can also join VigLink by clicking here.
What is Viglink?
Viglink is, at the end of the day, nothing more than a middle-man that stands between your blog or website and a merchant such as Amazon.com or Backcountry.com that has cool products. If you link to any of the products on their pages, or even just to their main website, and one of your readers follows the link and then buys something you get a commission.
What I've just described is the same as for any other affiliate marketing network. There are many out there. To name just a few, I've joined Amazon.com, Commission Junction (CJ), AvantLink and Google Affiliate Network. You can even use some of them such as Amazon to monetize your hubs. I talk more about this make money from Hubpages.
In short there is no shortage of networks out there for a dedicated blogger to find and join.
So what's new here?
There are a few big differences between Viglink and any other affiliate network
- Viglink gives you instant access to all 2,500 merchants in their network. That's different from all others such as CJ, where you first join the network and then have to apply to each merchant one at a time. Merchants often take days or weeks to approve you and some may turn you down. With Viglink you have them all.
- The Viglink affiliate network encodes all of your links for you. That saves you the troublesome and error-prone task of going to each of your merchants in your affiliate control panel and getting affiliate codes for each one. Instead you just create an ordinary link to a product on Amazon.com or any of the other member sites and Viglink with recognize it an automatically put affiliate tracking in it.
- You get paid directly by Paypal with no mimimum. That means you don't have small pots of money stacked up all around different affiliate networks waiting for them to each get to the minimum before you can get paid. If you live outside America it also means you aren't paying hudge fees to cash small checks.
- Viglink's interface has great analytics telling you exactly whcih pages are making money and with which stores. Getting other networks to do the same would mean hours of tinkering with dedicated trackers and goals in Google analytics.
How Does Viglink Work?
Viglink is pretty effortless on your part. To get it to work you just have to do a few things:
- Sign up to the program.
- Put some code on the top of your web site.
- Start making money from any links you already have to products or merchants
- Write more grat content that draws in readers and that is naturally populated relevant and in-context links to great products from great merchants
- Check your analytics to see what pages are making money
- Write more of the same.
What's not to like
Well there are a couple of things to keep in mind with this affiliate program that may not make it best for you.
- It doesn't work with Hubpages the way Amazon or ebay do.
- Viglink grabs a share of your revenue. They say that they typically take a 25% cut of the commission that the merchant pays for the affiliate sale.
- You don't have access to the datafeeds and other tools that affiliate networks provide. If youb Blog or Website offers price comparisons and needs data from different merchants then Viglink can't do this for you
Who is it good for
I don't think this affiliate program is for everyone. If you sell mainly on Hubpages or mainly through Amazon then you probably won't gain much. If you are already a power affiliate with datafeeds and understand the inner workings of the networks then there is no reason to sign up either.
There seem to me to be two cases where this program works well
- If you are just starting out and don't want to apply to all the different affiliate networks but still want to monetize a blog this is a good way to start
- If you already have affiliate relationships in place you can use this as an add-on. That's what I'm doing as it does not overwrite existing affiliate links (unless you tell it to). This just widens my net a little more and lets me send customers to a few more merchants than I already have affiliate relationships with.
How do I sign up to VigLink?
That's really easy just sign up here and they will guide you through the 5 minute process.
The link that I just gave above is an affiliate link, which means that if you sign up and make money, then Viglink will give me a share of their cut. It won't cost you a penny. If you thought this review was helpful that is one way of saying thanks.
If however you'd prefer not to have me get a commission you can sign up directly by going straight to http://viglink.com. The choice is yours.
Good luck and please report back here on how the program is working for you.
